چکیده

S ince the initial case of plain old balloon angioplasty by Andreas Grüntzig in 1977, there has been tremendous advancement in the treatment of coronary artery disease. After balloons and bare-metal stents (BMS), the introduction of drugeluting stents (DES) in 2002 transformed the practice of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by significantly reducing rates of restenosis and repeat revascularization caused by the excessive tissue proliferation seen after BMS (1). The safety concerns raised by the first-generation sirolimusand paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES) in regard to higher rates of late stent thrombosis (ST) and very late ST prompted changes to DES (2). The second-generation DES employed new stent designswith thinner struts, stronger materials such as cobalt or platinum-chromium with more biocompatible permanent polymers, and new antiproliferative drugs such as everolimus and zotarolimus, which further improved performance with lower rates of restenosis and late ST but still required long-term dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) (3). Other DES with bioresorbable polymers were also developed and significantly decreased the late ST phenomenon (4).

نتایج بالینی پس از آنژیوپلاستی عروق کرونر، بروز حوادث بزرگ قلبی-عروقی و عوارض انواع استنت

Background: Cardiovascular diseases alone have become the leading cause of death worldwide. One of the treatment methods cardiovascular disease is angioplasty. This study aimed to investigate the clinical results after coronary artery angioplasty, based on the incidence of major cardiovascular events with emphasis on stent types. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, the preval...

An advection-diffusion multi-layer porous model for stent drug delivery in coronary arteries

Arterial drug concentration distribution determines local toxicity. The safety issues dealt with Drug-Eluting Stents (DESs) reveal the needs for investigation about the effective factors contributing to fluctuations in arterial drug uptake. The current study focused on the importance of hypertension as an important and controversial risk factor among researchers on the efficacy of Heparin-Eluti...

Application of 64-slice spiral computed tomography angiography in a follow-up evaluation after coronary stent implantation: A Chinese clinical study

Background: This study assessed the application value of 64-slice spiral computed tomography angiography (CTA) in a follow-up evaluation of patients receiving coronary stent implantation. Materials and Methods: A total of 468 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) at our hospital between January 2013 and October 2016 were selected for this study. Coronary angiography an...

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

Management of a large coronary artery aneurysm with graft-coated stent during the acute phase of myocardial infarction

Coronary aneurysms in adults are rare clinical entities. Herein, we presented a 54-year-old man who was admitted with an acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction. The emergency coronary angiography revealed an isolated large aneurysm at the proximal segment of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The patient was successfully treated with a graft-coated stent
